Hi,

New to Guild wars, having installed it just this afternoon. Fantastic game!

Anyway, was wondering if anybody else is having this problem. When playing and entering new area's it downloads new sections etc, I'm only getting a download speed of around 10kb/sec. Yet I am on 8mb ADSL, with typical download speeds of around 200-400kb/sec. I live in united kingdom.

Anybody have any solution or advice would be greatly appreciated.

i'm also in the uk and bought gw nightfall today, never played gw before but liked the look of nightfall.
i too am having the same problem with download speeds, i'm on an 8mb connection but i'm getting little more than 1kbs to download the next steps, i've checked the gw site but nothing there about the problem...... i'm only onto the second part of it and i've already been waiting 40 mins and it's at 40% downloaded, it plays like a good game and seems like a good game but this is just stupid having to wait nearly 2 hours for the next part.
anyone else having the same problem and know a solution?

ye im getting this problem too, its probably because LOADS of people are also downloading the update, it will probably get better soon.

Well, the likely hood is that it is this recent update, things are going alot slower than normal. But another major reason is likely to be the increase of players in the game and each area itself I mean just the other day in Kamadan there were 12 Enlgish servers when I was on. My guess would be that this is the major problem.

Just how many bloody posts on this subject do there have to be before someone reads them?

The slow downloads are due to everyone streaming the same content at the same time! Bandwith is only finite, ergo the more people downloading the slower the speeds will be. I was lucky though, I was up at 04:30 and downloaded the content at 700kB.

ah right being new to this me and ross would have no idea, i usually play runescape online and i just saw this in asda and thought it looked cool so bought it.
how big is this game? like how many people actually play it? are we talking millions?

LOL!!!! PEEPS listen here plz now look at what the game recommends {broadband connection!!!} all online games do plz look at recommendations they make a big difference. ;D

Lol @ niteman, I just bought mine at asda this afternoon too...how wierd is that?!

And I used to play Runescape (a lot!), haven't played in a month or so now though

...and crzedman, we do have broadband (8mb ADSL), and the spec of my machine is much greater than the recommended spec. I guess i'll just be patient with it, nothing much I can do

People with 100mb will experiance the same problems..can't wait for 100mb lines to hit my area.
